Components and types of urban quarters are part of our bottom-up analysis, which evaluates the city on aspects of sustainable urban development and reveals its potentials in sustainable inner development in a detailed and comprehensible way.

Three types of neighbourhood building blocks were defined, which are oriented towards the three fields of action of sustainable inner development: Urban building blocks (urban design), street space types (mobility), environmental and open space structures (environment/open space).

The neighbourhood types are defined according to characteristics, function, location and composition of the neighbourhood components. Neighbourhoods that have a similar composition of neighbourhood components as well as other common characteristics (main function, location, dominant neighbourhood component, etc.) are assigned to the same neighbourhood type.
